Fields are objects of data in their simplest form. Data fields such as text fields, radio buttons, start dates, titles, and word processors (just to name a few), are utilized within forms, which are made up by a collection of fields. Fields can be created once and used across forms and multiple sites.

Creating a new Field

  1. Click on "Components" in the left navigation
  2. Under "Modules," select "Fields"
  3. Once in the Fields interface, click "Create new field"
  4. Fill in the field name, select the field type, label, and description.
  5. Enter an error message to display, such as "this field is required," should you make the field a required element in a form.
  6. Fill in any additional values relevant to your form. For example, if the form is of type "checkbox" you'll want to enter the values to display next to each checkbox entry.
  7. Apply a security policy, if desired, and add any tags to associate with the field.
  8. You can also edit the field's advanced options by clicking "Advanced Options," where you will see the field's default value and min/max characters, if it is of type text box.
  9. Click "Create field" to submit.
