Recent Updates

What about adding a ‘recently-updated’ query? I’m aware of ways to sort by update date, etc. but what about having an area on the intranet home page displaying all recent intranet activity?

Single, limited, and unlimited voting options on idea exchanges
Allow for configuration of idea exchanges that allow only 1 vote to be cast between the various ideas proposed. Other types would allow for multiple votes to be cast but could be capped. Finally, the third type would be what we have now where a person can vote an unlimited number of times. In all scenarios, the idea exchange should not allow a person to vote for a single idea record more than once. Multiple and unlimited voting capabilities would at least allow users to cast additional votes for other idea records.
The ability for an admin to close off creation of new ideas either manually or after a future date is also ideal especially for scenarios where a limited number of votes are allowed. -

Integrate with Salesforce via AppExchange
We benefit from having eCrowds integrated as a Salesforce app for document management needs. From the services side, making use of eCrowds for client project extranets is key. When we post SOWs and other project files to the extranet, those same files should be made available in the account interface for that client in Salesforce. Document and file version control is also critical including comments for each version and roll forward/back capabilities.

Store and Indicate Idea Exchange Sort Order
Would like my sort order of ideas to stick between views and would like the selected order to be indicated.

Show path in URL or link text
In the “What’s New” section, it isn’t possible to tell what section a new page is in: the URL is at the root level and based only on the page name while the link title shows only the page name. It would be nice for the URL structure to reflect the taxonomy somehow, but if that isn’t possible then having an option to show (the first) taxonomy in the link name would be useful in this case.

Include Discussion Text when creating Forum Discussion
When you create a new Topic (Discussion) in a Forum you can basically only supply a header and then you have to make a comment containing the content of the discussion. That comment is not really distinguishable from any other comment.
Would be nice to have some initial text associated with the discussion similar to the content of an Idea in Idea Exchange. -

Include Idea Name in Notification of Comment
When you comment or update a comment on an idea, the name of the idea should be mentioned in the notification email.

Allow for Idea Status in which Votes can no longer be made
Would like some sort of status or way of indicating that an idea is “Closed” or a “Duplicate” and make it such that the idea could no longer be voted on. Perhaps its appearance would change slightly as well to give a visual indicator.

Indicate previous Votes For/Against when Viewing Ideas
After you vote on an Idea, it would be great to have an indication of which way you voted: thumbs up highlighted, thumbs down highlighted, no highlighting.
This would help explain when you vote against something that you previously votes for and the score goes down by two. -

Allow for filtering of content/modules based on taxonomy category

I’d like to be able to view all of the relevant modules associated with a given taxonomy. For example, if we have our Marketing Site taxonomy category, I’d like to be able to filter and view all pages, files, etc. based on their inclusion in that category.

Forum Signatures
It would be nice for users to have a Signature section in their user profile. Then, the content in their signature would automatically be displayed at the bottom of their forum posts. For example:

Have Separate Users Table for System and Community Users
The users table will get pretty long and it will become difficult to quickly find system users among all of the other users. There could be a sort function instead but I think separate tables makes the most sense.

RSS Feeds for Forums
The old PHPBB forum had a useful RSS feed option that would deliver all of the latest topics and comments to a user’s RSS reader. It would be nice if this functionality were available to eCrowds forums.

Sort by most recent comment
This feature comes from one of our Cascade Server forum users. He mentioned that he would like the ability to sort by most recent comment rather than the date an entry was first created.

Quote highlighting
It would be useful to have a way of highlighting quotes from other users in comments.

Count Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down votes separately
Counting them separately (i.e. votes for and against) would give a better sense of volume.

Import Zip Files

The Files section gives two options for uploading files: you can click “Import” or “Create new file.” I think it would be a good idea to change the “Import” link to “Import Zip Files,” since you can only upload zip files in the “Import” interface. This might reduce potential confusion for users, who might think you can upload any file through either interface.

Add sort-by "most recently commented on" for forum posts and discussions

It would be nice if we could sort forum posts and idea exchange discussions by which entries were most recently commented on.
