The connectors portion of the Components area is a place for all the tools you use to bring added wisdom and cohesion to your eCrowds platform. Here is where you would tie Google Analytics to your site or connect your eCrowds instance with Salesforce.com. With eCrowds, if you choose not to integrate certain 3rd party apps, you don't have to worry about excess interface clutter. For example, if you choose to tie in Google Analytics to your eCrowds platform, but not Salesfroce, no sign of a Salesforce Connector will appear in your instance. Currently, the eCrowds Connectors that come out of the box include integration with: Google Analytics, Twitter, Prospect Insight, and Salesforce.com.

Creating a new Connector

  1. Click on "Components" in the left navigation
  2. Under "Modules," select "Connectors"
  3. Once in the Connectors interface, click "Create new connector"
  4. Select one of the four Connector types listed:
    1. Google Analytics
    2. Salesforce.com
    3. Twitter
    4. Prospect Insight
  5. Name the collector and fill in any relevant information, such as 'website profile id', to properly sync the accounts.
  6. Click "Create connector" to submit.

Setting up the Salesforce.com Connector

  1. Log into your Salesforce.com administrator account and click on "Setup." Click on "Security Controls" in the left navigation, followed by "Network Access." Enter the following three IP addresses that eCrowds will use when syncing with your salesforce.com account:

    • 75.126.8.147
    • 208.43.232.36
    • 208.43.40.10
  2. Log into eCrowds.
  3. Click on "Components" in the left navigation and click "Connectors" in the resulting sub-navigation.
  4. Click on  "Create new connector" to add a salesforce.com connector.
  5. Select "Salesforce.com" from the list of vendors.
  6. Enter a name for the connector that will only be used internally (i.e. "salesforce.com Connector")
  7. Enter your salesforce.com username and password. **Note that if your salesforce.com password changes, it must be changed here as well to maintain the connection.
  8. Click "Create Connector" to save the new connection.
  9. Your salesforce.com connector will now appear in the table. Note that the status is marked as "Not Verified." To ensure that you have properly set up the connector, click "Verify Now." If eCrowds is able to successfully send and receive data to and from salesforce.com, the status will change to verified.

Note that if your salesforce.com username or password changes, you will need to make the same change within eCrowds.

Setting up a Twitter Connector

The Twitter connector will tie your site (or portion thereof) to your corresponding Twitter username and update it with any new designated Content Types added to your site.

  9. Your Twitter connector will not appear in the table. Note that the status is marked as "Not Verified." To ensure that you have properly set up the connector, click "Verify Now." If eCrowds is able to successfully send and receive data to and from Twitter, the status will change to verified.
