Blogs
Blogs are a great way to facilitate community interaction by providing short opinion and commentary pieces that are comment enabled.
Creating a Blog:
- Click on "Community" in the left navigation
- Under "Modules," select "Blogs"
- Once in the Blogs interface, click "Create new blog"
- Fill in the blog name
- Select a limit, which will control how many posts appear on your blog's main page.
- Select a sort method, such as "start date" that will dictate the method in which your posts should appear.
- Select one or more Content Type (i.e. "blog post") that represent the content type(s) of your blog posts.
- Select taxonomy categories to determine in which areas of your site your blog should appear.
- Fill in all relevant information such as security policies and tags
- Click "Create blog" to submit.
Adding New Posts to a Blog:
To add new posts to a blog:
- Click "Content" in the left navigation
- Under "Modules," select "Pages"
- Click "Create new page"
- Select Content Type "Blog Post," which is the default blog content type included with the system. If your blog is set up to include a different Content Type, use that type when creating your post.
- Fill in relevant information such as the blog title, content, description, and start date.
- Click "Create Page" to submit the new post.
- If you now navigate to your blog home page your new post should be included in the list. (This is of course dependent upon start date, sort method, etc.)
Editing Blogs:
- Click on "Community" in the left navigation
- Under "Modules," select "Blogs"
- Once in the Blogs interface, navigate to the group you would like to edit, click "Edit" and under "Actions" on the far right.
- Once in the edit form, make any changes necessary, including updating blog taxonomies, sort methods, content types, and tags.
- Click "Save blog."
